The picture of two couples from various backgrounds sharing a stage, surrounded by happiness, respect, and solidarity, served as a potent reminder that compassion, humanity, and unity still triumph.
A Muslim family in Pune saved a Hindu couple whose wedding ceremonies were interrupted by an unexpected downpour, in a lovely moment of peace that has won hearts across the country. This act of generosity is welcome in the midst of the current hostilities between Muslims and Hindus, which grew more intense following the Pahalgam incident on April 22, 2025.

At 6:56 p.m, Sankruti Kawade and Narendra Galande Hindu wedding was set to start when the open site was battered by rain, causing chaos as guests fled for cover and family members rushed to safeguard the decorations and arrangements.
Just next door, in a sheltered hall, a walima (Muslim wedding reception) was taking place for Mohsin, the son of retired police officer Faruk Kazi, and his bride Maheen. Noticing the disturbance, the Kazi family promptly responded when the Kawades approached them.
“We asked to utilize the covered area for the saptapadi ceremony”, stated advocate Nilesh Shinde, a friend of the Kawade Family. “They not only agreed right away but also assisted us in setting up and greeted us with warmth.”
The Muslim host took a moment to pause their own celebration, stepped off the stage, and helped with the swift rearrangement for the Hindu wedding ceremony. Both weddings were held with great respect, one following the other.
“I have never seen anything as moving as this”, remarked Santaram Kawade, the grandfather of the bride. “We had been preparing for this day for months, and although the rain interrupted our plans, the generosity we experienced will remain with us for eternity“.
Chetan Kawade, “The father of the bride remarked, ‘This wasn’t merely an act of kindness – it represented a bond that resides in the hearts of the people’”.
