The robotics company DroidUp unveiled Moya in Shanghai, claiming it to be the first fully biomimetic embodied intelligent robot in history.
Embodied artificial intelligence, which refers to systems that can see, think, and act in the real world rather than just in virtual environments, is the foundation of Moya’s design.
According to the company, Moya is one of the most human-like robots currently under development because it can mimic human micro expressions.
Standing at 1.65 meters (5.5 feet) tall and weighing about 32 kilograms (70 pounds), Moya is designed with proportions similar to those of an adult human.
DroidUp also mentions that the robot maintains a body temperature between 32 and 36 degrees Celsius (89.6°F and 96.8°F), a feature aimed at enhancing its lifelike presence during interactions.
The company claims that Moya’s walking posture is accurate to 92 percent, emphasizing its commitment to stable and natural movement.
The development of Moya seems to build on DroidUp’s previous work in humanoid robotics, although the company has shared only a few technical specifics about the robot’s underlying platform.
The launch of this robot comes at a time when humanoid robotics is evolving in various ways around the world.
DroidUp isn’t just marketing Moya as a home robot. The company sees this humanoid being utilized in healthcare, education, and other commercial settings where human-robot interaction is key.
