Google is getting ready to replace its voice-activated digital assistant, Google Assistant, with Gemini, an AI-powered tool.

Google provided a straightforward toggle for users who preferred the older virtual assistant for over a year.

However, Google is actively working to remove the “Digital assistants from Google” option from the Assistant and Gemini settings pages, so those days are coming to an end.

Users will soon no longer be able to switch back to Google Assistant from Gemini, according to a new line of code found in the most recent version of Gemini for Android.

A number of features that were previously unique to Assistant have recently been moved to Gemini. This means the AI-powered assistant can now perform all the tasks that Google Assistant could, and even more.

Google is developing a new processing animation for Gemini when it’s handling your queries.

Additionally, when you send a lengthy message to Gemini, the entire text will be shown in the chat interface.

In the near future, Google might introduce buttons that allow users to expand or collapse their long messages, similar to the button found on the web version of Gemini.

We might also see a “Jump to bottom” button, which, as the name implies, will take you straight to the end of the conversation.

A new Instagram-style scrollable feed of prompts, a welcome message, and shortcuts to tools like Create Image and Deep Research are also part of Google’s plans to visually update Gemini.
