On Tuesday, Netflix announced that starting in early 2026, it will introduce a selection of Spotify’s top video podcasts to its platform.

This expansion highlights Netflix’s strategy to branch out beyond scripted series, films, and reality shows by embracing the rising popularity of audio visual podcast formats.

Lauren Smith, Netflix’s vice president of content licensing and programming strategy, stated, “As video podcasts continue to gain traction, our partnership with Spotify enables us to offer full video versions of these leading shows to audiences on both Netflix and Spotify”.

Netflix plans to launch the video podcast feature in the United States in early 2026, with a broader international rollout to follow.

The curated selection will cover various topics, including sports, culture, and true crime.

Popular shows such as “The Dave Chang Show” and “The Bill Simmons Podcast” will be included.

However, it is important to note that “The Joe Rogan Experience,” which holds the title of Spotify’s most popular podcast globally, will not be part of this selection.

Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify’s vice president and head of podcasts, remarked, “This provides more options for creators and opens up a completely new distribution avenue”.

For Spotify, this collaboration is anticipated to enhance the visibility of its creators by leveraging Netflix’s vast global subscriber base.

This move is part of a new distribution partnership designed to expand the streaming giant’s entertainment offerings and attract new viewers.
