Fabian Ruiz netted two goals as Paris Saint Germain took a commanding three goal lead within the first 24 minutes, crushing Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday (July 9, 2025), and moving on to face Chelsea in the Club World Cup final.
A crowd of 77,542 gathered at MetLife Stadium on a sweltering day, where the temperature reached 33 degrees Celsius at kickoff, and the humidity made it feel like 38 degrees Celsius.

Goal Moment
Ruiz found the net in the sixth minute, and Ousmane Dembele followed up with a goal in the ninth, thanks to some obvious blunders by defenders Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger. Ruiz then sealed the deal with a third goal during a counterattack. Goncalo Ramos rounded things off with a goal in the 87th minute.
Real didn’t fare any better than Inter Milan, getting crushed by PSG 5-0 in the Champions League final. PSG dominated with 76.5% possession in the first half.
Luka Modric came on in the 64th minute, probably in his final game for Madrid, the team he’s been with since 2012. Eder Militao also made his entrance at the same time, marking his return after tearing his right ACL on November 9.
PSG took the lead when Lucas Beraldo’s cross was mishit by Raul Asencio, and Thibaut Courtois managed to tip the ball away from Dembele, but Ruiz was quick to slam it into the open net.
Dembele then picked up the ball around 40 yards out after a misplay by Rudiger, dribbled forward, and slotted it past Courtois.
PSG made a full field run to score and make it 3-0. Hakimi passed the ball back and forth with Dembele, then sent a cross to Ruiz, who kept his composure despite Federico Valverde’s pressure and found the net from 8 yards out, marking his third goal in the tournament.
Fresh off their first European title, PSG is set to compete for the championship this Sunday (July 13, 2025).
Key Moment
Madrid’s defense was without Dean Huijsen, who received a red card on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was dealing with some muscle discomfort in his right leg.
Paris Saint Germain has raked in between $88,435,000 and $113,815,000 for making it to the final, with the exact amount depending on a participation fee.
