Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, currently on the International Space Station (ISS), is set to communicate with the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru using ham radio on July 4.

Group Captain Shukla, who will be on the ISS for 14 days, is set to connect with URSC at 3:47 p.m. (IST) on July 4, 2025.
“We have some live events coming up from orbit, and we’ll be doing live interactions, including one with a VIP. We’ll connect with students, academia, and the space industry so I can share not just my story but also my experiences in orbit with people back home”, Group Captain Shukla mentioned earlier this month.
Group Captain Shukla, who is the first Indian to visit the International Space Station (ISS), had a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 28, 2025.
Last month, Sudeesh Balan, the project director at ISRO, announced that the space agency is organizing two events for students where the astronaut will engage directly with them.
“One of the activities is a student event where the astronaut will interact directly with the student community. We are planning two such events across the country. In addition, there will be an amateur radio link, which is a tradition at the ISS. We will have an amateur radio contact with the students. We have already identified the students, and these activities are currently underway. We’ve pinpointed two locations in India where this will take place”, he stated.
