A few days after news broke that user prompts in the Meta AI app were showing up on discover feeds, the app has started displaying a consent notification that users need to accept before sharing their AI-generated content.

The Meta AI apps enables users to share their prompts in discover feeds, akin to social media platforms such as Instagram. Nevertheless, certain posts contained personal information, including medical and tax records, residential addresses, details regarding lawsuits, and other aspects of their private lives. These discussions appeared on the ‘Discover’ feed accessible to the public.

Since that time, Meta AI has added a pop-up that appears when users hit ‘Share’, stating, “The prompts you share are public and can be seen by everyone. Your prompts might be recommended by Meta on other Meta applications. Please refrain from sharing personal or sensitive details”.

Users have the option to select which Meta platforms (like Facebook and Instagram) the publicly shared prompts can be suggested on.

The Meta AI app debuted in April, combining the ideas of AI chatbots and social media platforms.

The Meta AI app features a Discover feed, where you can share and check out how others are utilizing AI. You can view the top prompts that people are sharing or tweak them to create your own. And as usual, you have the power: nothing gets posted to your feed unless you decide to share it.

However, critics have raised concerns about possible privacy issues related to the publish chats function.
