The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the full domestic cricket schedule for the 2025-26 season, featuring new group formats and modifications to the tournament structures.

The season starts with the Duleep Trophy on August 28, 2025, and will continue until April 3, 2026, when the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy wraps up the schedule.

A major update this year is the return of zonal selections for both the Duleep Trophy and the Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy, featuring six zonal teams competing instead of those chosen by national selectors.

To improve competitiveness in limited overs tournaments, the six lowest-ranked teams from last season will now play in a Plate Group across different age categories.

The promotion and relegation system has also been adjusted, with just one team moving up or down between the Elite and Plate groups each season.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Senior Women’s T20 Trophy are switching to a Super League stage instead of the usual knock out phase.Meanwhile, the Vijay Hazare Trophy and other big tournaments will use a format with four Elite Groups and one Plate Group. For most junior and women’s competitions in the Under- 16, Under-19, and Under-23 categories, they will stick to a system of five Elite plus one Plate group.

The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 15, with the final match happening at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

The Irani Cup is set for Nagpur from October 1 to 5.

The Ranji Trophy will occur in two segments — the first phase runs from October 15 to November 19, and the second phase is from January 22 to February 1.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will begin league matches on November 26 and wrap up on December 8 in various cities like Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, with the knockout rounds taking place in Indore from December 12 to 18.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy league is set to take place from December 24 to January 8 in
Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur, and Bangalore. The knockout rounds will happen from January 12 to 18 at the Centre of Excellence.Additionally, the BCCI has confirmed the groups for all major tournaments. Teams like Vidarbha, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, Karnataka, and Delhi are in the Elite categories for the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy, while teams such as Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh will be competing in the Plate Group.

With these updates, the board is looking to elevate the competition standard and provide equal chances for teams of all levels throughout the country.
