After the former US president was recently diagnosed with a “aggressive” form of prostate cancer, an old video of Joe Biden ostensibly confessing to having cancer in 2022 went viral on social media.
The video, which was taken during a press conference in Somerset, Massachusetts on July 20, 2022, features Biden talking about the effects of oil pollution in Delaware on the environment. At the time, Biden stated, “That’s why I have cancer, along with so damn many other people I grew up with”. Later, the White House clarified that he had been referring to previous skin cancer treatments rather than an actual illness, dismissing the comment as a “gaffe”.
The video has received new attention, though, as word of his recent diagnosis spreads. Biden’s staff announced on Tuesday that the 82-year-old is currently discussing treatment options with physicians after discovering that his prostate cancer has spread to his bones.
After a prostate lump was found and Biden began exhibiting symptoms related to his urine, the illness was diagnosed. The Gleason score of 9 indicates an advanced stage of the malignancy, which is also believed to be hormone-sensitive.
According to Kamala Harris, the former US vice president who replaced Biden as the Democratic contender, Biden would meet this task with “strength, resilience, and optimism”. “Joe is the person who has done the most to develop innovative treatments for cancer in all its forms”, said former US President Barack Obama.

In 2015, Biden’s son Beau passed away from brain cancer. During the Obama administration, Biden led the “cancer moonshot” program, referring to the battle as “personal”.
