Marnus Labuschagne stepped in for the injured Cameron Green on Friday (October 17, 2025) for the three-match ODI series kicking off in Perth on Sunday (October 19, 2025).

“Green will undergo a brief rehabilitation period and is expected to return for round three of the Sheffield Shield to prepare for the Ashes”, Cricket Australia mentioned in a statement, indicating that his absence from the ODIs is a precautionary measure.

Labuschagne, who wasn’t in the original squad, has been called up after scoring 159 in a Sheffield Shield match for Queensland on Thursday (October 16, 2025).

He is marking his fourth century of the domestic season.

This marks the third forced change for Australia ahead of the first ODI against India, with Josh Phillippe stepping in for the injured Josh Inglis and Matthew Kuhnemann taking Adam Zampa’s place, as Zampa will miss the game for personal reasons.

From India’s perspective, the spotlight is on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who are returning to national duties for the first time since March, having transitioned to one-format players after retiring from Tests.
