Afghanistan ended their campaign on a high note with an 82-run win over Canada.

Canada and Afghanistan faced off in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2026 on Wednesday (February 18, 2026), at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Match Summary

Earlier, Canada won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Batting first, Afghanistan put up a solid score of 200 for 4 in their 20 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran (not out) was the star of the show, hitting an impressive 95 runs off 56 balls with a great strike rate.

Sediqullah Atal contributed 44 runs from 32 balls and formed a strong 95-run partnership with Zadran that helped Afghanistan navigate the middle overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz added 30 runs off 20 balls, while Azmatullah Omarzai chipped in with 13 runs from 7 balls.

Canada bowled with discipline early on but couldn’t sustain the pressure. Afghanistan’s big partnerships and aggressive batting pushed the target past 200, leaving Canada with too much to chase.

Canada finished their chase at 118/8 in 20 overs.

Harsh Thaker scored 30 runs off 24 balls. He was the standout batter for Canada.

Mohammad Nabi took 4 wickets, and Rashid Khan picked up 2 wickets, striking regularly to keep Canada under constant pressure.

The rest of the batting line-up failed to build momentum, falling quickly and ending hopes of a strong total.

Afghanistan finished their campaign with a 82-run win over Canada.
